     Well it's good that you are further interested in learn hacking, Let's move toward our next hacking basic challenge on www.hackthissite.org that is Basic mission 3. You can also go there by clicking here. (requirements for this mission : Basic HTML knowledge) 

     Don't bother if you know nothing about HTML , Learn some basic HTML by clicking here & then see this tutorial you will surely can finish this challenge.

SOLUTION

Step:1  Go to HTS Basic mission 3. And read the instruction carefully given over the mission.

Step:2  Instruction says that, sam uploaded a password file ,but this time its not a text file. Let's see what we get from the page source of the challenge.

Step:3  Open page source (CTRL + U or Right click > View Page Source).

Step:4  Find "password" in page source by using CTRL + F. See in below image.

Step:5  You will find that value for password input is .. value="password.php" that means password is stored in password.php in same directory.

Step:6 Now its very simple, go to 

http://www.hackthissite.org/missions/basic/3/password.php & you will find the password.

Step:7 Input that password in mission page.  Mission is cleared hurray.

       Hi Friends, hope you liked solution of HTS basic mission 1.  Now in this tutorial I will show you how to crack basic mission 2 (requirement: little thinking & common sense).

SOLUTION

Step:1  As usual read the instruction given on basic mission 2 page. It is written that..

 Network Security Sam set up a password protection script. He made it load the real password from an unencrypted text file and compare it to the password the user enters. However, he neglected to upload the password file...

Step:2  Try to understand what sam wants to say. It is said that Sam made a text file in which password is stored. But he FORGOT to upload that password file.

Step:3  So nothing to do, without any input click on "password" button. Your basic mission 2 is cleared. Hurraay. (Because sam forgot to upload the file in which password is stored. So nothing to compare the entered password thus password is null.)
